So, I know that a peppermint pattytechnicallyisn’t a seasonal treat. Which is probably why I enjoy them all year long. How can you not? They’re strategically placed at the end of every checkout counter in every store!
This next recipe is the soap equivalent of that minty, chocolaty little gem- and I’m pretty excited about it. Chocolate- good. Mint- good. Chocolate and mint together? Awesome! AND- it’s a simple little melt and pour recipes. My favorite!! Another great feature of this soap- it only requires a few ingredients which means there’s less to get out, less mess, and less to clean up.
Materials:
- 1 lb.Cocoa Butter SFIC (all natural) Glycerin Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 2-3 tablespoonsOlive Oil
- 4 tablespoonsCocoa Powder
- 25 drops (or .5 ounce)Peppermint Essential Oil
- Silicone Round Soap Mold
Directions:
- Start by prepping the cocoa powder. To properly mix it into the soap without clumping, you first have to dissolve it into a carrier oil. In a small bowl mix together the cocoa powder and the olive oil until evenly blended and set aside.
- Next prep the soap base. Carefully chop into evenly sized pieces. This will help the base to melt evenly and reduce the possibility of burning.
- Place the chopped soap base in a microwave-safe glass bowl (I like a Pyrex bowl for this) and melt in the microwave (quick and easy!) using 30 second time increments and stirring in between.
- Once the soap base is evenly melted, remove from the microwave and blend in the cocoa powder mixture and essential oil, stirring to make sure all ingredients are completely incorporated into the soap.
- Carefully pour the prepared soap mixture into the molds. I decided to use round silicone molds since peppermint patties are round.
- 使用木针或something similar, texture the top of each soap using a small, figure-eight pattern. Peppermint patties aren’t smooth on top, so this helps to create a similar-looking surface.
- Allow the soaps to harden for several hours, or overnight. Once completely hard, just pop them out of the molds. Remember- melt and pour soap doesn’t require a curing period, so enjoy them as soon as you’d like!
