Bathing does have a multitude of health related benefits. That’s the main reason why it’s important. Sure, smelling nice is great, but it does more for the body than just that. Introducing this Sea Salt Detoxing Bath Soak into your routine can make you feel even better.

One of those added health benefits, stress relief, is perfect for parents and students during back to school season.

Historically, bathing has been used for centuries for purposes other than getting clean. The practice of Hydrotherapy has been a way to rid the body of toxins, prevent illness and disease, and promote overall health.

Most of the ingredients are basics that you may already have in your home!

This easy detox bath will encourage your body to release the buildup of toxins from your skin in a slow, gentle way. The salts decrease inflammation and draws toxins out while the baking soda balances the ph levels in your tissues. Using apple cider vinegar leaves the skin feeling soft and supple and the addition of lavender is a relaxing, calming way to unwind while you soak.

You can do a detox bath once or twice a week, but make sure to do it at the end of your day because the process can leave you a little sleepy!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Sea Salt
1/4 cupEpsom Salt
1/4 cupBaking Soda(AKA Sodium Bicarbonate)
1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
10 DropsLavender Essential Oil

Directions:

Start by dissolving the salts and baking soda. You need to do this outside of the tub for two reasons: first, you need to use boiling water (and you’re not going to soak yourself in a tub full of boiling water), and second, if you just add the salts and baking soda to your bath tub, you’re likely to feel the grit of the undissolved particles on the bottom of the tub when you get it (not very comfortable or relaxing) and it will be harder to wipe clean after you’ve finished your bath. On the stove top, dissolve the salts and baking soda in a few cups of boiling water. Once ingredients have completely dissolved, set the mixture aside to cool while you prepare the rest of your detox bath.

Fill your tub with warm/hot water and add the apple cider vinegar as the water is filling up. Pour in the salt/baking soda mixture and the lavender essential oil and swirl around with your hand to mix the ingredients into the water.
Hop in and relax!

Soak for as long as you like, but make sure it’s at least 30 minutes to maximize the detox benefits. Remember that the detox process can leave you feeling sleepy and sometimes lightheaded, so stand up slowly and carefully as you get out of the bath and be sure to drink water to maintain hydration.

As always, be smart about detoxing!
